Method Statement for internal profile glass support

6.4 Procedure & Methodology

1. Use IPA liquid for final cleaning before application.
2. Remove any dirt, dust, or loose particles using a clean, dry cloth
3. Verify that the location for Aluminum internal profile aligns with the panel Height and cut the profile as per the panel dimensions, noting that the internal profile consists of 2 types (Str Profile & Decorative profile which used for Arc. Requirements.

• Fix the internal profile on the panel surface, ensuring proper spacing and alignment with keeping 7mm gap between the profile and the glass internal surface as per the approved detail DWG. #03801 and the enclosed layout drawings.
• Apply 6 mm diameter holes with 300mm C/C, as per KAFD-A2-112-ALT-STL-CAL-00101 in the internal structural profile
•  Make sure the surface is cleaned after drilling the holes.
•  Place 1.54mm thick Effuses 2 bond double sided tape at the location of screw holes in the profile groove in order to seal the screw holes in the mullion and to maintain the system performance.
• Clean the profile surface & glass surface properly where the structural silicone will be applied, and apply DOW primer on the profile.
• Use 5.5 x 25 mm (A4-70) self-drilling screw to fix the internal profile to the mullion.
• Apply protection tape along the internal profile and the glass, adjacent to the silicon application.
• Apply structural silicone DOW-895 between glass and profile excess of 15mm depth silicone will remove or wipe with some special tools its need cured 21 days to apply 2^nd pass.

Special tool

1. After 21 days the existing silicone surface clean with air compressor and IPA liquid with clean cotton cloth.
2. The remaining depth of silicone DOW – 895 applied between glass and aluminum profile and ensure the surface to be clean properly and smooth
3. During the application silicon will be inspected from the outside visually to ensure that the silicon filled the gap completely without any voids.
4. Screw head will be covered with weather sealant Dow 791.
5. Close the decorative profile.
6. Reference to the structural KAFD-A2-112-ALT-STL-CAL-00101, for the inclined mullion, Norton tape and 5mm of existing silicone to be removed and apply the structural silicone DOW895.

1. Gap between the profile and transom will be closed by grey color sealant DOW 791
2. Quality control” – randomly one internal glass profile shall be removed at every 50 elements to control the application of structural silicone quality as recommended by DOW.
