Rectification of Unitized curtain wall panels

GAP Between Transom and mullion

  1. Measure the dimension of gap precisely cut a small piece of aluminum to fit these dimensions using a suitable cutting tool refer to Figure – 01.

2. Ensure the gap is free from any debris, dirt or loose material. Clean it thoroughly using air blower.

3. Cut the aluminum piece with less by 1mm size smooth any rough edges or burrs on the cut aluminum piece using a file this helps achieve a clean and precise refer to Figure – 02 .

a) Cut off the front part to allow the cut piece to be inserted into the gap
b) Remove the screw ports that the piece can fit in properly.

4. Apply structural silicon as per approved MAR (KAFD-A2-112-ALT-ARC-MAR-00041) to one side of the aluminum piece.

5. Carefully insert the aluminum piece into the gap between the mullion and transom. Ensure it fits snugly and aligns with the surrounding structure refer to Figure – 03.

6. After the silicon dry, we can use a finer sand paper over the painted surface, applying even pressure.

7. Apply approved small amount of polyester glazing putty (as per approved MAR# KAFD-A2-112-ALT-ARC-MAR-00180).

8. Approved spray paint jotun Hardtop XP Alu will be applied.

9. After that 1mm gap between transom and mullion will be filled as per approved sill glaze as per approved MAR#KAFD-A2-112-ALT-ARC-MAR-00192.
